Audiobook Review: Have Your Cake by Grace Reilly

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

Hi friends! Happy Wednesday! The week is just steps away from being over, and I do not know about you, but I am looking forward to this weekend. I personally am meeting up with friends Saturday and have a weekend full of reading planned, with three audiobooks to share with you that are being released on September 22nd.

The first is Have Your Cake by Grace Reilly. I got this one from the usual folks at NetGalley and Spotify to share with you all. As always, all opinions are my own.

This novella starts off with pottery queen Evie Bartlett walking away from everything, including her upper-class life that she does not want and her fiancé, to create the life she does want. Along the way, she becomes close friends with Logan Pierce. Logan first sees Evie when she is in Port Laurel with her ex-fiancé and falls for her, until he sees her fiancé walk up. The next time she shows up in Port Laurel heartbroken and starting over, he wants to be there for her.

When Evie tells her mother she is dating Logan to get out of being set up with her mother’s pick, Blake, at her ex-fiancé’s upcoming wedding, Logan does not need to be convinced. So Evie and Logan pack their bags, and two weeks later, they are off to the destination wedding in Hilton Head.

When they show up to a suite with one bed, the forced proximity, fake dating, and real feelings between Evie and Logan heat up. Will they be able to get out of their own ways and finally tell each other how they feel? Or do Blake, the cybersecurity contractor and her dad’s golf buddy, and Evie have more in common than we think? Guess you will have to grab this one to find out.

I do not know if it was Spotify or Grace Reilly who chose to have Patrick Dubois and Monica King narrate this novella, but their narration is spot on. They have fantastic chemistry with each other. They were wonderful in the comedic parts while still portraying that simmering desire beneath the surface. I will definitely be looking for more books from this pair.

Have Your Cake releases September 22nd. You can presave it on Spotify now.

Until next time, my friends! I hope you are able to pull out those fall sweaters and get cozy with your own 5-star read or listen!
