Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! Here on Cape Cod, the fall weather has yet to make a real appearance, and I do not know about you, but I am longing for the cooler nights of fall. Since we still have at least another week, it seems, of warm weather, I am still finding time to read at the local Starbucks with my favorite iced drink in hand.

Today, I have another sports romance to share with you. This time, it is a hockey romance that I received from NetGalley, Tantor Audio, and the author, Ruth Stilling: Code Violation. This audiobook was given to me for my review and to share with you all. As always, all opinions are my own.

Code Violation is about Silas, the hockey captain of the Seattle Rogues, who just so happens to be in love with the one woman he should not want: his brother’s girlfriend. Only, he is not a good man, and Vesper deserves someone so much better.

So, when they break up, you better believe Silas is there to give her everything she has ever needed. And believe me, we learn early on that his brother never gave her anything, in any department. After Silas’s brother ends up on Vesper’s doorstep, she calls Silas for some help. He removes his brother, but he keeps coming around.

After a hookup with Silas one night that is so hot and heavy they forget to use any protection, Silas finally tells Vesper how he really feels and lays it all on the line. Only for Vesper to tell him she will make up her mind about whether she wants to take Plan B or potentially have his child. Silas is ready for everything, including being the father to their unborn child. Can Vesper get over her past, or will it come back to haunt her?

This is a really good story, told by narrators Raven Hawkins and Tristan Josiah. I enjoyed this tale, and the narrators did a great job bringing the story to life. I did, however, think that when Vesper gained more confidence, that could have shined through more in the narration.

While I am giving this four stars, the thing that would have put this over the top for me is more of the characters’ backstory. We hear the same few facts about each character’s past, and I wish it had been fleshed out a little more.

But if you are looking for an easy listen with loads of spicy scenes, an unexpected pregnancy, a horrible ex, and a hockey player who falls first, then this is definitely a book you will enjoy.
