Book Review: A Simple Twist of Fate by April Asher

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
Hello friends! I just finished Simple Twist of Fate by April Asher, and let me tell you, this book is pure magic from start to finish. I was lucky enough to get the audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for my review, and If you’re a fan of April Asher’s paranormal worlds, you are going to absolutely love this return to Fates Haven, a place where destiny, romance, and a little bit of chaos go hand in hand.

We follow Harlow “Harry” as she returns to the hometown she’s avoided for thirteen years from New York City. The last time she was in Fates Haven, a fate ceremony turned her world upside down. Not only did she not end up with the love of her life, Jaxon, but she watched him get fated to someone else, or so she thought. Heartbroken, Harry ran away and made herself impossible to find, leaving Jaxon searching for her over and over again.

Fast forward over a decade, and Harry is back, this time with her young goddaughter, a fledgling teenage shapeshifter who desperately needs answers and guidance. Returning to Fates Haven means facing everything she left behind: old friends, bittersweet memories, and of course, Jaxon, who is now the Alpha shifter. Jaxon’s role as mentor to Harry’s goddaughter brings them back into each other’s world, and it’s clear from the very first moment that the chemistry between them hasn’t faded one bit even though Harry believes he was fated to another.

What I loved most about this story is how April Asher blends humor, and heart within her supernatural world. The reunion between Harry and Jaxon is everything you could want: emotional, a little angsty, but ultimately so satisfying. Watching them navigate old wounds, misunderstandings, and the pull of fate made for a truly captivating read. The town of Fates Haven itself is a character in its own right, quirky, magical, and filled with the kind of community spirit that makes you wish you could move there yourself.

As Harry reconnects with her childhood roots, she also helps her goddaughter embrace her shifting abilities and finds herself drawn back into the life she left behind. There is a wonderful sense of healing and hope as Harry helps Fates Haven reclaim its reputation as the best place to find your fated mate, and as she and Jaxon finally get a second chance at the love they were always meant to share.

If you love stories about second chances, found family, and the kind of fated romance that defies even the trickiest twists of destiny, A Simple Twist of Fate is a must-read. April Asher has once again delivered a story that is just the right amount of supernatural, romance, and mystery. Five stars from me. For an added treat pick up the audiobook, Teddy Hamilton and Isabelle Ruther help bring this story to life, and you’ll want to devour this book in one sitting. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this enchanting world. Until next time my friends, happy reading!
