My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hey Book Pals! I hope you all are having a great Sunday! The Super Bowl is over, Kelce has to be taking his place traveling with Taylor Swift on the Era’s tour, Right? So how do you spend your football-free Sunday? I am hoping it is curled up with a good book and today, I’m excited to share my thoughts on Ali Hazelwood’s captivating novel, “Bride.” So my friends, Get ready for a ride on the paranormal side full of intrigue, romance, and the age-old battle between vampires and werewolves. So, grab your stakes and silver bullets (just kidding, we won’t need those), and let’s dive in!
So first off friends, let’s talk about the star of the show – Misery Lark. As the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, Misery has always felt like the odd one out. Used as collateral to maintain peace between humans and vampires, she’s now faced with the daunting task of marrying into the enemy camp – the Weres. Talk about a nail-biting situation!
But Misery is far from a damsel in distress. She’s a badass hacker and pen tester who’s just trying to live her life under the radar in the human world she was forced to grow up in. That is until her friend goes missing, throwing her into a dangerous game where the stakes couldn’t be higher. As someone who’s currently learning about the cybersecurity world, I love to see women represented as the badass hacker in books.
Now we have Lowe Moreland, the formidable new Alpha of the Weres. We first meet him at their wedding and after what others think is sure to be a blood bath. He takes Misery back to Were territory. He’s ruthless, unpredictable, and tracks Misery’s every move with a keen eye. And let me tell you, the tension between these two is palpable from the get-go. It’s a classic enemies-to-lovers trope that’s as irresistible as it is dangerous.
But there’s more to this marriage of convenience than meets the eye. Misery has her own reasons for agreeing to the arrangement, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances. And she’s willing to do whatever it takes, even if it means navigating the treacherous territory of Were territory alone… with the wolf.
Ali Hazelwood does an incredible job of weaving together a story that’s equal parts action-packed and heartwarming. From heart-stopping showdowns to tender moments of connection, “Bride” will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. I was not able to put it down. You will want to read this book all at once. Fans of Hazelwood will love that she doesn’t stray from her strong female leads with a STEM focus.
So my friends, if you’re a fan of Ali Hazelwood, supernatural romance with a side of danger, or both, then “Bride” is the book for you. Hazelwood’s masterful storytelling will leave you craving more, and I, for one, can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next. So, grab your copy, a beverage (a bloody mary perhaps?), find a cozy spot, and prepare to be swept away by the magic of “Bride.” Happy reading, friends!
