Book Review: Every Duke Has His Day by Suzanne Enoch

Hey fellow book lovers! I am back with the promised 3rd book review of this set, another Audiobook which is my favorite format now that I’m back to school. 📚 Are you ready for me to rave about a delightful, laugh-out-loud regency romance that stole my heart – “Every Duke Has His Day” by Suzanne Enoch? Well if you are read on.

If you’re a fan of historical romances with a healthy dose of comedy, a touch of mystery, and a sprinkle of canine chaos, this one’s for you! This book is just what I needed to take a break from reading about ICMP Error messages. It is an excellent escape from the dry material of my textbooks!

Michael Bromley, Duke of Woriton, might be an absent-minded scientist, but he’s about to find himself in a whirlwind of confusion and romance when two mischievous black poodles and a case of mistaken identity throw him into the path of the lovely Elizabeth Dockering. From the get-go, the chemistry between these two characters is undeniable, and their banter had me in stitches. Michael’s scientific brain and Elizabeth’s charm and wit make for a delightful combination.

The story takes a hilarious turn when the black poodles, Lancelot and Galahad, get mixed up, setting off a series of events that lead to a dognapping plot. The chaos that follows is a rollercoaster of laughs, mishaps, and unexpected romance. I absolutely adored the way the author brought out the slow-burning attraction between Michael and Elizabeth, making their journey to love all the more satisfying.

What sets this book apart is its well-rounded characters and unexpected depth. Elizabeth, the Diamond of the season, is portrayed as both fun-loving and intelligent, a refreshing take on the typical regency romance heroine. Michael, with his scientific mind, adds a unique flavor to the story, and their character growth throughout the book is beautifully written.

The supporting characters and subplots added layers of enjoyment to the narrative. The “villain’s” point of view was an intriguing touch, and the secondary romance was a delightful surprise. I know we aren’t supposed to be cheering for the villain, yet here I am hoping he turns to a respectable life. The research into historical facts and the Regency setting added authenticity and depth to the storyline.

In summary, “Every Duke Has His Day” is a must-read for anyone seeking a lighthearted yet compelling regency romance. Suzanne Enoch has masterfully blended humor, romance, and a hint of mystery into a captivating tale that will have you laughing, swooning, and rooting for love. Grab a copy, cozy up with a cup of tea, and get ready for a heartwarming, canine-filled adventure in Regency London. Happy reading!
