By Samantha Chase
We meet Josie when she is feeling down, all her friends are getting married and her brother just had his first baby with her friend. She goes down to the hospital cafeteria with her friend. She says has an option for marriage, with Tyler, a friend who has been told if he was married he would get a promotion. Her friend heads back and Josie sits at a table and takes a call.
Daniel, the former SEAL, sees a pretty girl across the room. He can’t stop glancing at her and she shoots him a smile. He orders coffee and sits a few tables away. She walks over to him and asks to join him at the table. After talking for a few minutes Daniel asks her, Josie, for dinner. He is looking forward to getting to know Josie better. Her phone keeps going off and she gets work calls while on the date. Daniel wants a date who is going to pay attention to him. Josie knows she has blown this date but would regret not getting a kiss from Daniel.
Daniel (and his parents) show up to the restaurant only to see his brother Tyler, and Josie! Tyler was in the middle of “proposing” to Josie. They join them at the table and the wedding plans are getting out of hand. But Daniel is suspicious of the whole circumstance.
Josie and Tyler meet with Daniel for a family dinner. Tyler gets a call and leaves the table leaving Daniel and Josie to have the date they should have had. Daniel has Josie checked into because something doesn’t make sense in this relationship. All he can see on paper is that they are friends. Daniel is obviously crushing on Josie, which is clear to all of Daniels’s friends as well.
After an episode of domestic abuse, next door to Josie is scared and decides to spend the night at Daniels’s place. Where they finally decide to take their attraction to the next level. When they finally decide to make it move forward to the next step in their relationship, Tyler unexpectedly shows up on Josie’s doorstep and is not Happy to see Daniel with Josie. The next thing you know Daniel and Tyler are in a fistfight and Josie and Daniel break up.
Later Tyler meets Josie to tell her he and Katie, his ex-girlfriend are back together and are getting married, and moved to a different type of law. Now it’s time for Tyler to fix everything with Daniel and Josie, and Daniel shows up and asks Josie to give Daniel another chance.
Review: I got this ARC audiobook after requesting it from NetGalley. This is the second book I have reviewed by author Samantha Chase. I like the friend’s brother romance. I like that Tyler and Daniel were able to work through their relationship. This book is the third in the Meet me at the alter series but I don’t feel like I missed anything by not reading the first two books first. I give this book a 4. The narrator Avery Reid was new to me but did a wonderful job on this audiobook.
