Book Review: The Best of Us by Kennedy Fox

Summary: Kendall and Ryan have both grown up in the spotlight with wealth. Kendall, the best friend of Ryans sister, has decided to live on the inheritance and Ryan has moved away from the spotlight to become a doctor. Kendall and Ryan are headed to a cabin to decorate before the honeymoon of Kendalls best friend and Ryans sister. She has packed multiple suitcases worth of clothing, decorations, snacks, and decor. This does not help Ryans image of Kendall as a spoiled rich kid with no job or ambitions. Yet, Ryan packs it all into his vehicle and they head to the cabin.

Along the way, the snow storm gets worse and worse, but continuing on is better than turning back. Shortly after getting to the cabin, they realize they will be stuck there for multiple days. Making the most of their time Ryan and Kendall decide to know each other better, as a lot has changed from when they were teenagers. Kendall spends her time volunteering and giving back, doing what she can to make the world a better place. Ryan is a doctor who has PTSD because of what he has seen with the pandemic.

After a drunken game of Never Have I Ever, Kendall and Ryan end up in bed together, and it is better than Kendall would have imagined.

12 Days later Kendall has caught some major feelings for Ryan, or wonders if they have always been there, and it’s time to leave the cabin as they will be plowed out the following day. Ryan has also caught the same feelings and wonders if Kendall feels this connection too.

Ryan drops off Kendall, and without telling each other how they feel say goodbye, and I’ll see you at the wedding the following week.

Ryan becomes busy with double shifts at the hospital and Kendall with doing her Maid of Honor duties. Neither one reaches out to the other. The rehearsal and wedding happen and due to a misunderstanding, Kendall blocks Ryan’s number.

Weeks go by and when Kendall finally talks with Ryan, they work out their misunderstandings. Cami, Kendalls’ best friend and Ryan’s sister is so excited that they worked it out she is planning for their wedding and future babies.

Speaking of the wedding, Piper, Kendalls sister is almost kidnapped during it and goes into hiding with her bodyguard… setting up the next novel in the series.

Review:
This was a good quick read. I finished it in about 24 hours. It’s definitely a faced paced and that could have been drawn out more, but I am glad it wasn’t. I give this book a 3.5/5. I don’t regret reading it and if you’re looking for a fun quick read this is definitely a story for you.
